Palace of Holyroodhouse
While in Edinburgh we visited the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Holyroodhouse is a working palace. Once home to notables such as Mary Queen of Scots and Bonnie Prince Charlie. Photographs are not permitted inside the palace, but outside the grounds are gorgeous. There are usually a large number of tourists at any given time so a little patience is needed to get photographs. Inside you are treated to a processional route through the King's apartments, including the bed chamber and dining room. The great gallery holds numerous paintings of kings, queens, and the notable dignitaries from centuries ago. A climb up a winding and narrow stone staircase brings you into Mary Queen of Scots' apartments and bedchamber. It was a fascinating trip back in history and a wonderful start to our journey.
